What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to keep, so that the site recognises your device on the next page. Some are needed to make a shop work at all; others follow you around. We only use the first kind.
What we use
- Session — keeps you logged in and holds the security token that protects our forms against misuse. It disappears when you close your browser.
- Basket — remembers what you put in your basket, so it is still there if you come back later.
- Language — remembers the language you chose, so you do not have to choose again.
These are strictly necessary for the shop to work, which is why we do not ask your permission for them: without them you could not log in, order, or read the shop in your own language.
What we do not use
Without your permission we load no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels, and we do not share your browsing with advertising networks.
Payment happens on a Stripe page, which sets its own cookies to make the payment work and to detect fraud. Stripe explains those in its own privacy documents.
Measuring how the shop is used
If you allow it, we use Google Analytics to count which pages are opened and how visitors move through the shop. It tells us which lamps get attention and where people get stuck. It does not tell us who you are, and we never use it for advertising.
We ask before anything from Google is loaded: refuse, and no Google script runs at all. Your answer stays in your own browser, and you can change it whenever you like through "Cookies" at the bottom of every page. If you allow it, Google Ireland Limited processes the data, its cookies last up to two years, and your IP address is shortened.
Advertising on TikTok
If you allow it, we also load the TikTok pixel. It tells TikTok which of our ads brought you here and whether you looked at a lamp, put one in your basket or ordered, so we can show our lamps to people who are likely to want them. When you order, your email address and phone number go to TikTok only in hashed (scrambled) form. TikTok Technology Limited in Ireland processes this data; its cookies last up to 13 months. The same choice covers Google and TikTok: refuse, and neither sends anything.
Staying in control
Every browser lets you see, refuse or delete cookies; the setting is usually under privacy. Refusing our cookies is possible, but then the basket and your account will not work.
Changes
If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask you first and change this page.
